What would you say if you could tell every single person in the world just one thing?
This morning, I got that question from 101 Essay that will Change the Way You Think written by Brianna Wiest
If I could tell every single person in the world just one thing, I would say:
“Let people have their space. Let them have their own time.”
There are many people in this world who can respect our choices. For example, when someone needs a moment alone or wants to sit quietly in a corner, others simply let them be without asking too many questions. They understand that needing space doesn’t mean pushing people away.
But in my case, it’s different.
When I take a step back or sit alone for a while, people around me think I’m avoiding them because I’m upset or I hate them. They misunderstand my silence. And in the end, I’m forced to sit in the same room again, pretend everything is fine, and ignore my own need for breathing space.
I don’t like that feeling.
Why is this person so bossy? Why does she feel the need to tell everyone that I “have a problem”? I just needed a moment. I just needed space. But she keeps making it bigger, louder, and more complicated than it is.
At work, there are days when I simply need to be by myself. To recharge, to breathe, to think. But it seems like they never understand that. They always want everyone to gather in the same room, no matter what.
And honestly… it’s exhausting.
