What do you want others to understand about you?
This question feels heavy for me, especially because of my situation right now.
I'm diagnosed with severe depression and have been experiencing manic symptoms, with a tendency toward the bipolar spectrum. So, I wish people could understand me a little more.
I wish they could let me do the things I want, as long as they are good for me. I don't need advice in this phase. I just need support.
I wish people could talk less to me and listen more.
I just wanna be listened to. Really, I don't need advice. In this phase, I hate being told what I should do. Sometimes, I don't need someone to fix me. I just need someone to sit with me, listen to me, and let me express what is inside my head.
I know that if I want people to understand me better, I have to tell them more about what I'm going through. But it's not easy to tell the truth about everything that has happened to me. Some stories are difficult to explain, and some feelings are even difficult to put into words.
So, instead of trying so hard to be understood by people, I just give myself space.
I don't want to involve myself in their business, and I don't really care whether they can understand me or ignore me. Maybe, for now, I just need to protect my own peace.
I don't expect everyone to understand me.
I just wish the people who stay around me could understand that I'm trying my best.
At this time, I just wanna spend a lot of time with myself, talk with her—myself—and hug her tightly.
Maybe I need to come back to myself again.
Maybe I need to listen to myself before asking other people to listen to me.
And maybe, one day, when I'm ready, I can tell my story more openly.
But for now, please don't rush me.
Just stay.
Just listen.
I don't need you to have all the answers.
I just need to know that I'm not alone while I'm trying to understand myself.
